General Meeting

The General Meeting of Europe Air Sports will be held on 15 and 16 March 2008 in Cologne, Hotel ParkInn (Belfortstrasse). Part of the Meeting will be used to brief the members on the regulatory developments and current situation in Europe.

A message has been sent to the members on 14 January. This reads as follows:

TO the members and officers of Europe Air Sports This is a pre-announcement of the General Meeting of Europe Air Sports.

The formal convocation will be distributed 4 weeks in advance of the General Meeting (so 15 February 2008).

The General Meeting will take place on 15 and 16 March 2008 in hotel ParkInn, Belfortstrasse 9 in Cologne (be aware that this is NOT the same hotel where we had our meeting in 2007!). The meeting will start at 10 h on Saturday and end at 13 h on Sunday. The agenda will be published in the convocation in February. In general lines the items for the statutory General Meeting will be planned for Sunday and the meeting on Saturday is planned to cover the regulatory aspects and technical and operational details. Several members of the Board are required to stand down according to the statutory rotation schedule (Mr Berger, Mr Stuck, Mr Calabresi and Mr Lindholm), while Mr Dörner has announced that he has to resign from his post due to personal reasons. In the formal convocation will be stated who will be willing to stand for re-election.The Board is desirous that Mr Roberts should be charged with other responsibilities in the Board, to be explained at the General Meeting. Therefore the position of Treasurer-General will be vacant. Since that position has to be elected in function by the members, the Board is currently seeking a candidate for nomination (in the formal convocation).Finally the President, Sir John Allison, has agreed, subject to the will of the members, to stay in function for another year (until the Annual General Meeting in 2009), contrary to his intention mentioned in the General Meeting of 2007. He will explain his considerations at the General Meeting. All members of Europe Air Sports are invited to nominate candidates for these functions, to be made know in writing and signed (e-mail is ok) to the Secretary-General ultimately 14 February 2008. You are also made aware that the Programme Manager, Rudy Schuegraf, and the Secretary-General, Harry Schoevers, have indicated that they intend to terminate their functions during the year. Mr Schuegraf will not extend his contract and Mr Schoevers wants to round up his work after almost 15 years with Europe Air Sports. Although this is not a matter that requires a decision at the General Meeting, ideas for candidates or other solutions are welcome!

As usual, hotel reservations and travel arrangements are a responsibility of the meeting participants themselves.The hotel has blocked rooms for the meeting attendants until 20 February 2008.
