ABOUT EUROPE AIR SPORTS

General Information:

Europe Air Sports (EAS) is the association co-ordinating European regulatory matters for National Aero Clubs and Associations (members of FAI and from Member States of ECAC) and European Air Sports Unions and Federations.

Established in 1988, EAS has been registered on 29 March 1995 at the Chamber of Commerce in The Hague, The Netherlands, as a non-profit Association, and is affiliated to the FAI since October 1994. The current Membership counts the National Aero Clubs of 25 States, including most of the Member-States of the European Union. In addition 4 European Air Sports Organizations are now member of EAS. This means that EAS represents the interests of some 700.000 sport and recreational airspace users !

A Board, whose members are democratically elected by the members, and a Secretary-General, manage EAS. Reporting to the Board are a Programme Manager and Working Party Co-ordinators and Technical Officers, who -with their expert team members, assigned by the EAS members- perform the activities required to analyse and respond to the regulatory initiatives and also to create original documents and positions.

This organisation ensures the best possible coverage of all air sport and regulatory expertise from all Member Nations. In this way a staff of approximately 50 people is directly involved in Europe Air Sports’ activities.

EAS currently maintains relations with the following International regulatory and consultative bodies: European Commission -DG TREN and DG X- and Parliament, EASA, SES, ECAC, JAA, Eurocontrol, ERO/ERC and CEN/CENELEC/ETSI. Europe Air Sports is formally recognized as the representative of the European air sports community in the consultative bodies of EASA, JAA and Eurocontrol and indirectly SES.

The Europe Air Sports’ website, hosted on the FAI server, is actively used for internal communication and external publication: www.europe-airsports.fai.org.
